The ultra-miniature strain gauge amplifier AMP-UM10KB has been developed based on modern chip technology to meet the growing need for industrial strain measurements in demanding environments, where a miniature strain gauge signal conditioner and easy setup are essential.
Operation of the Strain Gauge Amplifier

The design concept focuses on placing complete strain gauge conditioning comprising stable 5-V bridge excitation and precision instrumentation amplifier circuitry close to the strain gauges. This setup produces an amplified output signal that is robust against noise, allowing for safe transmission via slip rings or long cables, which significantly enhances signal integrity.
The AMP-UM10KB is a fixed-gain device with a nominal gain of 1000. Other fixed gain options are available upon request. The standard unit is designed for full-bridge gauges, but units with internal completion resistors can also be provided to service half-bridge or quarter-bridge gauges upon request.

Auto Calibration Feature
The amplifier automatically initiates a calibration process by connecting a precision 249 kΩ shunt resistor to one limb of the Wheatstone Bridge for 5 seconds.
Digging stronger foundations
With a current consumption of less than 4 mA, the strain gauge amplifier operates efficiently, minimising power requirements.
Visual Power Indicator
The AMP-UM10KB is equipped with a white LED positioned on top of the amplifier, serving as a visual indicator of the unit’s power status.
Input Pin Protection
Both input pins, IN+ and IN–, are internally safeguarded against voltage transients of up to ±40 V.
