The Only Film In The World That Can Measure Pressure

This film allows users to easily visualise pressure and pressure distribution that previously could not be observed. When pressure is applied, the film turns red, and the intensity of the colour varies depending on the amount of pressure exerted. To accommodate a wide range of pressures, from 0.006 to 300 MPa, Fujifilm offers nine different types of Prescale.

Prescale Line-Up

Prescale is categorised into different types according to the pressure range [MPa] you wish to measure.

Please select the type that best suits your inspection condition.

* W in the product codes indicates two-sheet type, S indicates mono-sheet type

* “Prescale Sheets” is a type of Prescale that comes pre-cut into sheets.

Structure of Prescale

There are two types of Prescale: the two-sheet type and the mono-sheet type. The two-sheet type is composed of two polyester bases, A-Film and C-Film. A-Film is coated with a micro-encapsulated colour-forming material, and a C-Film, which is coated with a colour-developing material. The A-Film and C-Film must be positioned with the coated sides facing each other.

Mono-sheet Prescale Film: The colour-developing material is coated on a polyester base, with the micro-encapsulated colour-forming material layered on top.

How Prescale works

The microcapsules in the colour-forming layer are broken by pressure, and the colourless dye is absorbed into the developer, causing a chemical reaction to produce a red colour. The microcapsules containing the colour-forming material are adjusted to varying sizes and strengths, and are coated uniformly, producing a colour density that corresponds to the amount of pressure.

Pressure chart

By checking the standard chart, the pressure value can be confirmed visually.

* The parts represented by the dotted lines may exceed the allowable error range, so it should only be used as a reference.

* Prescale is used by selecting curves A, B, or C depending on the temperature and humidity conditions.

* The measured pressure reaching time for continuous pressure of Ultra extreme low pressure (5LW), extreme low pressure (4LW), and ultra extreme low pressure (LLLW) is 5 seconds, and the measurement maintenance time is 2 minutes.

* Super high pressure (HHS) is only for continuous pressure.

How to use Prescale

1)

Cut the Prescale or Prescale Sheets into the shapes needed for measurement.

2)

Insert the Prescale between the surfaces to be measured. Apply normal operating pressure.

3)

Remove the Prescale.

4)

You can now see the pressure and its distribution.
