Dual-Axis Laser Micrometers

Our dual-axis (also called dual-plane) laser micrometers measure products from two directions, precisely calculating product diameter, ovality, and position. These two axes of measurement are coplanar and perpendicular to each other, and the measurement field is perpendicular to the product.

Our dual-axis (also called dual-plane) laser micrometers measure products from two directions, precisely calculating product diameter, ovality, and position. These two axes of measurement are coplanar and perpendicular to each other, and the measurement field is perpendicular to the product.

Dual-axis inspection offers accurate measurements for a variety of product profiles. Common product profiles include:

  • Rectangular (width and height or width and thickness)

  • Triangular (base and height)

  • Hexagonal (flat-to-flat distance)

The technology is especially useful for identifying small defects that do not encircle the product, and which cannot be reliably detected using other measurement tools.

For benchtop applications, these micrometers can inspect products without rotating them, saving time while attaining a high degree of accuracy.
