BenchLinc UT

Measure Wall Thickness for Cut Lengths of Tubing Ultrasonically

The BenchLinc UT system uses LaserLinc’s UltraGauge+™ ultrasonic wall thickness measurement technology to inspect cut lengths of tubing. It provides accurate, continuous non-contact measurements over the full length of the sample, unlike other measurement methods, which are limited to inspecting the ends of the tubing.

Offline inspection plays a crucial role in catching dimensional issues that manual checks miss. The BenchLinc UT records key measurements in one pass, including:

  • Outside Diameter (OD)
  • Inside Diameter (ID)
  • Wall Thickness
  • Ovality
  • Concentricity

In critical medical applications such as vascular stents or catheter tubing, a thin spot in the wall can lead to product failure after implementation. This is a risk that tube manufacturers cannot afford to take. The BenchLinc UT allows for full-length inspection, identifying out-of-spec products before they are shipped. For quality engineers in regulated industries, this not only enhances product safety but also helps ensure compliance with FDA and international standards.

Features Include:

  • Accurate wall and concentricity results due to a unique LaserLinc ultrasonic sensor assembly for discrete samples.
  • Measures down to 0.003” [75 μm] wall thickness of metals, such as nitinol, stainless steel, cobalt chromium, and other speciality alloys.
  • Easy to use, integrated, package requiring no additional engineering
  • An optional laser micrometre provides outer and inner diameter and ovality measurement
