Fujifilm

Fujifilm operates in many areas, including photography, optics, office and medical electronics, biotechnology and chemicals. Fujifilm provide Techni Measure with a unique film called Prescale, which is the only product in the world capable of measuring pressure. This film allows users to easily visualise pressure and pressure distribution that previously could not be observed.

Prescale Pressure Measurement Film
The only film in the world that can measure pressure. When pressure is applied, the film turns red, and the intensity of the colour varies depending on the amount of pressure exerted. To accommodate a wide range of pressures, from 0.006 to 300 MPa, Fujifilm offers nine different types of Prescale.
Structure of Prescale
There are two types of Prescale: the two-sheet type and the mono-sheet type. The two-sheet type is composed of two films of which are respectively coated with colour-forming material and colour-developing material. This type is used by placing the sides coated with the chemical agents over each other. The mono-sheet type is a film with a single base film with a coating of colour-forming material and developer.
How Prescale works
The microcapsules in the colour-forming layer are broken by pressure, and the colourless dye is absorbed into the developer, causing a chemical reaction to produce a red colour. The microcapsules containing the colour-forming material are adjusted to varying sizes and strengths, and are coated uniformly, producing a colour density that corresponds to the amount of pressure.
