Strain Gauge Amplifier

The ultra-miniature strain gauge amplifier AMP-UM10KB has been developed based on modern chip technology to meet the growing need for industrial strain measurements in demanding environments, where a miniature strain gauge signal conditioner and easy set-up are essential.

The design concept is based upon the ability to place complete strain gauge conditioning (stable 5-V bridge excitation and precision instrumentation amplifier circuitry) in close proximity to the strain gauges. An amplified (high-level) output signal, which has good immunity to noise, can be safely transmitter via slip rings or long cables, which considerably reduces noise and increases signal integrity.

AMP-UM10KB is a fixed-gain device with a nominal gain of 1000. Other fixed gain values are available on request. The standard unit is designed to service full-bridge gauges; units with internal completion resistors are available on request for servicing half-bridge or quarter-bridge gauges.

Signal conditioning for IEPE or charge mode piezoelectric accelerometers, force or pressure transducers with built-in, attached, or in-line amplifiers, battery or line power options, with or without gain, in single and multi-channel configurations, are available.

Transducer mounting accessories and cable assemblies, including low-noise cables for charge mode sensors, can also be supplied, and UK stock is held of the most common accessories for fast delivery.

Bridge Completion Circuits

The bridge completion module is designed to complete a wheatstone bridge for strain gauge circuits. It is multifunctional in its use. By connecting gauges to different terminals, the circuit will be able to complete either a quarter-bridge for 2 or 3 wire gauges or a half-bridge for 2 wire gauges.

The resistance of the bridge completion module would be pre-determined by the user at the point of purchase.

This module is available with three different types of connectors for the output. An OEM with accessible through solder holes and without a case allows for full integration into further designs.
A Screw Terminal (T) to 3.5mm pitch pin connector (P) has been designed to mate with the V-link 200. Finally, a Screw Terminal (T) to Screw Terminal (T) design allows for easy in-line integration into alternative DAQ systems.
